Signe Howells feltarbeidsstipend er opprettet med det formål å oppmuntre til klassiske sosialantropologiske feltstudier utenfor den ”vestlige” verden gjennom å bidra økonomisk til en egnet students feltarbeidsutgifter i forbindelse med mastergradsstudiet i sosialantropologi. 2021 er siste året stipendet lyses ut, og resterende beløpet er på kr 12,700. Søknadsfrist er 15. desember 2021.

Krav til søkere:

• Søker må være mastergradsstudent ved et av de fire norske universitetsinstituttene.

• Feltarbeidet skal utføres som en mikrostudie i et samfunn der studenten kan fordype seg i befolkningens dagligliv og benytte deltagende observasjon. Det vil si at studenten må bosette seg i samfunnet og strebe etter å leve som befolkningen og delta i deres gjøremål.

• Feltarbeidet skal ha en varighet på minimum seks måneder.

• Problemstillingen skal ta for seg et sentralt antropologisk tema.

Søknaden skal inneholde:

1. Kort søknadsbrev (1-2 sider)

2. Prosjektbeskrivelse (inntil 10 sider)

3. Utskrift av karakterer fra høyere utdannelse (kan ettersendes)

4. CV

Signe Howell's fieldwork grant

Signe Howell's fieldwork grant has been established with the purpose of encouraging classical social anthropological field studies outside the “western” world by contributing financially to a suitable student's fieldwork expenses in connection with the master's degree program in social anthropology. 2021 is the last year the grant will be awarded, and the value this time will be kr. 12,700. The application deadline is the 15th of December 2021.

Requirements for applicants:

• The applicant must be a master's student at one of the anthropology institutes in one of the four Norwegian universities.

• The fieldwork must be carried out as a micro-study in a society where the student can immerse themselves in the population's daily life and use participatory observation. This means that the student must settle in the society and strive to live as the population does, and participate in their activities.

• The field work must have a duration of at least six months.

• The research question must address a central anthropological topic.

 

The application must contain:

• A short motivation letter (1-2 pages)

• A project description (up to 10 pages)

• Transcripts of your higher education (can be forwarded)

• A resume or CV
